Funky Funk

Have you ever been in a "funk?" I am, quite often actually. I define it as, a period of time where you feel lost, discouraged, alone and frustrated.
For some reason you aren't as connected to God, but nothing has changed. Maybe that's the problem.
This is not my picture and not me:) But she is pretty!

Last year after knee surgery, I was pitying myself and very unhappy (or in other words in a "funk.") I decided what I needed was to get off my butt and get to work- serving.
Not my pic either. Ok none of these are:)

So, I started working towards my honor bee ( a post personal progress goal which includes reading the Book of Mormon and completing 40 hours of service).

Reading the Book of Mormon was the easy part, taking it day by day and little by little. The service is a whole different story.

I started by helping my bros with math homework. This was slow and painful, 15 minutes at a time and defiantly a project which tested my patience.

I also started helping my neighbor, Tristan, with completing her Personal Progress.
This indeed is my picture.

I now continue to meet with her weekly, taking it an hour at a time. We talk about her hopes and dreams, experiences with prayer, the after life, and many other gospel related topics. We also learn together.
She has impacted my life in more ways than she will ever know, as well as taught me far more than I would've learned. She got me out of my "funk." She teaches me about tornados and storms, dinosaurs such as Spinosaurus, plants in her yard, animals instincts and especially how to love others.

I am so excited for Tristan to receive her Personal Progress Young Woman's Medallion and continue to grow spiritually. She is such a sweet, special girl! Getting started with service wasn't easy at first, but the reward has been far greater than I imagined!
